At Maple Ridge Farm MO, LLC we are dedicated to improving the North American alpaca by breeding each generation to herdsires with proven pedigrees. We breed for fineness, uniformity and color so our herd contains many of the color variations recognized by the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA). 

Alpaca fleece is a soft, durable, luxurious, silky natural fiber that is light, just as warm as wool, has no lanolin (which makes it naturally hypoallergenic) and does not feel itchy or irritating next to the skin. Because of its soft, smooth texture, alpaca fiber is sometimes compared to cashmere. It comes in 16 natural colors and can also be dyed any desired shade. Compared to wool and cashmere, products made from alpaca have a lower tendency to shrink, is more resilient, is naturally water-repellent and wicks moisture away from the body, resists acquired odors and is wrinkle-resistant (just to name a few attributes). It is also more difficult to ignite, making it a great choice for clothing.
